For our last day learning all about rain, we did an easy and fun art project we found here. The only thing we were lacking was the rainy day! So, we improvised with squirt bottles and let these beautiful pictures dry in the hot sunshine. We also enjoyed the story A Rainbow Of My Own by Don Freeman.
We've been doing a Rain unit with my two younger kids. They were introduced to the water cycle with this simple experiment. Both boys were duly impressed. Our story time book for today was Bringing The Rain To Kapiti Plain by Verna Aardema. For those of you who haven't read it, I highly recommend you give it a try. James Earl Jones narrated this story on an episode of Reading Rainbow once and it's hard to read the story after hearing him without trying to replicate his beautiful deep voice. We found a neat little story online about Drippy The Raindrop who tells the story of the water cycle. I love being able to combine an online game or story with our lessons.
