We cut the bottoms out of some pears and apples and poked them on the ends of branches for our fruit-eating birds.
We never suspected we'd start a food fight. Here's this little guy, happily pecking away at his apple...

The photos are taken through the window, so you can see some reflection on them, but I was excited to get all this drama on "film". They ate the fruit so much, it all eventually fell to the ground where they continued to eat until they could pick up the cores and fly away with them!
that last photo is just spectacular! you should enter it in some photo competition!

Thanks for your sweet comment! Yes, they would make a good holder for tissues, especially...hadn't thought of that. And these photos are spectacular - can't believe that you caught them in their mischief. Just a few days ago, we were watching a little chickadee trying to decide whether or not he would make his nest in my son's painted birdhouse. I think he found a better place much to our disappointment!
