Oh my, I've been tagged for the 8 things meme! I just found out today when I visited Brit's blog at We'd rather be outside! When I saw my name, I got butterflies in my stomach - it's the first meme I've done. All of a sudden my life seems pretty boring when I have to come up with 8 interesting facts or habits about myself. Here are the "rules":
Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
OK, let's see...
1. I have a twin sister. She's my best friend in the world and we've always gotten along really well. We've met several other twins through the years and it was always surprising and a little sad when some of them would say they didn't like being twins or always being linked to another person. It's been wonderful for me and I feel really lucky to have her as my sister.
2. I really dislike musicals. I think because they seem so unrealistic and you have to wait through the whole song before you get back to the real story. I just find them annoying.
3. Our family moved around quite a bit while I was growing up. I went to 9 different schools between Kindergarten and 12th grade.
4. I had long hair all my life until after my 3rd child. I got it cut very short before my 4th was born and I've LOVED it ever since. I used to always wear it in a pony tail or pulled back because I didn't like it being in my face or the babies' faces. I figured why have it long when I always have it pulled back anyway? So, chop chop. I could never have it an in-between length - too much work! My haircut has spoiled me now, it's truly wash-n-wear hair.
5. I talk to myself quite frequently. Even the rare times when I'm at the grocery store without any of the kids, I'll catch myself chatting away with moi and have to shush myself when passing by other people.
6. I startle easily. It's embarrassing. The last time I went for a haircut, I was sitting in a chair looking at a magazine, waiting my turn when the hairstylist walked up and said he was ready for me. I nearly jumped out of my skin. It drives my husband crazy.
7. I've always had pets in my life and they are one of my greatest pleasures. Currently, we have 3 dogs, 4 cats and a guinea pig. Our sweet rabbit just recently passed away. Strays just seem to find our house. My oldest cat is 16 years old. When she was born, I had to open her little amniotic sac and cut her cord because her mom was ignoring her. It's one of the neatest things I've ever done.
8. I'm not very squeamish. Our family was driving home one late afternoon from Boise and a Red-Tailed Hawk flew straight down in front of our car to get something on the road. We hit it square on. We pulled over and I had to extricate it from the grill. My husband doesn't have the stomach for such things (but he's good at lots of other stuff!) We buried it in a field before we continued home.
Now, I get to tag some others :0) I think most people I read have already done this, but there's still a few out there! How about Bella Dia (my sister's blog), Lighting the Fires, Nurtured by Love, Adventures in Home Learning and Woman of the Tiger Moon.
